1. Sedative effect:

Administering 6g/kg of the ethanol extract (ant paste) of the simulated black ant to mice by gavage can significantly inhibit their spontaneous activity, indicating a certain sedative effect.

 

2. Anti fatigue effect

The petroleum ether fraction of black ant alcohol extract can prolong the load swimming time of subacute aging model mice, indicating its anti fatigue and endurance enhancing effects.

 

3. Anti aging effect

Injecting D-galactose into mice for 30 days and administering 1.5g/kg of black ant powder orally can protect the liver and brain tissues of mice, reduce lipid peroxidation, and effectively prevent changes in aging indicators induced by D-galactose. Studies have shown that ant preparations can turn white hair black in humans.

 

4. Effects on the reproductive system:

Animals taking black ant extract showed an increase in testicular weight, thickening of seminiferous tubules, and elevated levels of testosterone in interstitial cells and surrounding serum; After administering ant water and alcohol extract by gavage for 21 consecutive days, the testicular weight and organ index of rats significantly increased (P<0.01), indicating that it has a promoting effect on testicular development in young mice. Clinical observations also showed that oral administration of ant dry powder for 30 days increased the patient's sperm density, number of active sperm, and sperm motility compared to before medication.

 

5. Immune enhancement effect:

Black ant extract citral can regulate human immune function. Ants can promote the formation of immunoglobulin, facilitate lymphocyte transformation, and enhance human immune function. Experiments have also shown that ant extract can enhance the phagocytic function of macrophages, promote non-specific immune and epidemic prevention systems, increase the content of DNA and RNA in cells, and increase the number of immune active cells.

 

6. Anti inflammatory effect:

The administration of 12g/kg black ant paste has a significant inhibitory effect on xylene induced inflammation in the ears of mice. Administration of 4.0g/kg black ant paste has a significant antagonistic effect on formaldehyde induced arthritis in rats, but has no antagonistic effect on egg white arthritis in rats. Its anti-inflammatory effect is not related to the function of the pituitary adrenal cortex system and may be a direct effect.

 

7. Antiasthmatic effect

Guinea pigs used 4% acetylcholine aqueous solution spray to induce asthma. On the day of the experiment, 1.6 g/kg of black ant ointment was injected intraperitoneally and repeated 30 minutes later to induce asthma. The results showed that the ant ointment had a certain antiasthmatic effect, but the antiasthmatic effect of this dose was weaker than that of aminophylline 125 mg/kg injected intraperitoneally.

 

8. Liver protection effect:

Black ant paste has the effect of combating the increase in serum alanine aminotransferase activity in rats caused by carbon tetrachloride, indicating its protective effect on the liver. It also has a certain preventive and therapeutic effect on hepatic steatosis.
