There is no absolute answer as to which one is superior. Lion's Mane and Chaga are two outstanding medicinal mushrooms with distinct functional strengths, targeting different health needs.

Lion's Mane is a well-known fungus used both as food and medicine. In the United States, it is also called "Lion's Mane Mushroom". Thanks to its unique cognitive benefits, it has become one of the most popular medicinal mushroom ingredients in Europe and America in recent years, and is widely applied in food and beverages.

Lion's Mane

Gastric Care Gastric protection is its most widely recognized benefit. Lion's Mane polysaccharides can reduce the gastric ulcer index in experimental rats, boost blood flow to the gastric mucosa and stimulate the secretion of growth factors, so as to strengthen the self-defense capability of the gastric lining.

Nerve Support Hericenones in Lion's Mane help stimulate the synthesis of Nerve Growth Factor (NGF). This compound maintains neural homeostasis in the brain, optimizes the nervous system and improves cognitive functions, including memory, comprehension, communication skills, alertness and focus.

Chaga, also known as Inonotus obliquus, is a medicinal fungus that grows on birch trees. It features a hard, pitch-black exterior. Traditionally, it has been used in Russian folk remedies to treat gastric disorders and boost immunity.

UV Protection

In vitro studies have shown that Chaga polysaccharides can inhibit the invasion of highly metastatic melanoma cells by regulating the Akt/NF-κB signaling pathway. They reduce the levels of MAPK, nuclear factor NF-κB and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), thereby lowering the expression and activity of matrix metalloproteinases MMP-2/9 and suppressing the metastasis and invasion of B16-F10 melanoma cells.

In vivo experiments further verified that Chaga polysaccharides can markedly inhibit tumor growth in BDF1 mice bearing B16-F10 melanoma. Both aqueous extracts of Chaga and inotodiol demonstrate potent activity against B16-F10 melanoma in vivo.

Antioxidation

Rich in superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase, Chaga delivers powerful antioxidant effects and protects body cells.

Immunity Enhancement

Chaga is abundant in plant-based polysaccharides, which exert anti-tumor, hypotensive, hypoglycemic and immune-reviving effects. These active ingredients can activate immune cells, curb the spread and recurrence of cancer cells, and block the intestinal absorption of carcinogens and other harmful substances.
