Na Citrate Powder, is white crystalline particles or powder at room temperature, odorless, with cool salty taste, stable in air. Relative density 1.857(23.5℃). It loses water of crystallization at 150℃, and decomposes when continued heating. Soluble in water, pH of aqueous solution is about 8, insoluble in ethanol.

Na Citrate, is the most important citrate, mainly produced by fermentation of starchy substances to generate citric acid, and then neutralized with alkali substances and produced, has a variety of unique excellent properties.

Sodium citrate has good complexing ability for metal ions such as Ca2+, Mg2+, and other metal ions, such as Fe2+ plasma.

Sodium citrate has excellent solubility, and the solubility increases with the increase of water temperature; sodium citrate has good pH adjustment and buffering properties. In addition, sodium citrate also has excellent slow coagulation and stability properties

When fresh blood is taken clinically, some sterilized sodium citrate is added to prevent blood clotting, so sodium citrate is called anticoagulant.

In food and beverage industry, it is used as flavoring agent and stabilizer. Sodium citrate can be used in cool drinks to moderate the acidity and improve the taste; it can be added in brewing to promote the role of saccharification; it can also be used as an anti-souring agent for dairy products, a viscosity enhancer for processing cheese and fish products, and a sweetness correction agent for food.

In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used as an anti-coagulant, phlegmolytic and diuretic.

In the detergent industry, it can replace sodium tripolyphosphate as an auxiliary for non-toxic detergents.

It is also used in brewing, injection solution, photographic drugs and electroplating, etc.
